How to set-up Delivery Methods and Payment in Odoo V15 eCommerce : Delivery methods can be used for your sale orders, your deliveries but also on your e-commerce. Delivery methods allow you to manage the transport company, the price and the destination.

When a customer orders a product or service, it’s an inevitable factor that delivers those services or products to the customer’s location. The delivery method can be defined as the transportation method the company used to ship their product to their customers. Customers are allowed to buy their desired products from e-commerce websites. Delivering their product at the right time, in the right method at a fair cost will tend the customer to continue their business with the same company. The product delivery is either done directly by the company or may with third-party service providers like DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc.

Odoo can handle various delivery methods, but it is not activated by default. Delivery methods can be used for your sale orders, your deliveries but also on your e-commerce.

Delivery methods allow you to manage the transport company, the price and the destination. You can even integrate Odoo with external shippers to compute the real price and the packaging.

The shipping and delivery methods ensure that your company is actually delivering the product based on some strategy. This will identify your brand in a distinct way.

Odoo is equipped with a huge number of payment options for ensuring maximum efficiency in revenue collections. This also ensures that the payment route is flexible based on the individual customer’s interests. With Odoo you can set up various payment options easily on the eCommerce site for the customer to make online payments directly from your website without any transferring issues.

Customers can choose their favorite payment option and proceed with the payment.

There are multiple ways to configure and set up payment options in your Odoo system. As all of the modules in Odoo are highly integrated with each other, all of the configurations that you give on the payment option will be automatically available on the other modules too.

Delivery Method : Offering the right delivery method helps both you and the customer to carry out a great business deal and also helps to increase customer satisfaction and revenue.

Configuration : To configure delivery methods in Odoo ecommerce, you have to install a website module. 

Open Website module > Configuration > Setting > enable shipping and then save.

Let me show you everything through screenshots.

To manage the selected delivery methods, you have to go to the configuration tab and click on the Shipping methods as you can see in the screenshot given below.

Now the shipping methods page will be open as you can see in the screenshot below.

Here you can see all the delivery methods created by you.  As you have the option to filter and arrange them in the way you want. You can view whether the shipping method is published on any particular website of yours. For reference you can see the screenshot above.

To create a new shipping method click on the Create button as shown in the screenshot below.

Enter the details of the shipping method. 

Shipping Methods : Here you have to enter the shipping method.

Provider : Here you have to fill the provider delatil who is providing you the shipping facility. You can install more providers as well. If you click on “Install more providers” as you can see in the above screenshot.

Company : Here you have to fill the Name of the Company.

Website : Here you have to fill in the name of the website.

Delivery Product : Here you have to fill in the name of the product.

Margin on Rate : Here you can mention the % of margine, like how much % you want in a particular product category.

Free if order amount is above : If the order amount is above the condition, then this will automatically free.

To edit and configure an already existing shipping method you have to click on the shipping method from the list for more information and configurations as shown in the screenshot given below.

You can view and configure the settings and details on the shipping method by clicking on the Edit button as shown in the screenshot given above and after that you can save it.

All of these configurations are essential for shipping or the delivery of the products to the customers. These configurations are also essential for Odoo to understand the nature of the shipping method that the customer or you chooses for completing the purchase.

Payment Methods : Odoo embeds several payment acquirers that allow your customers to pay on their Customer Portals or your eCommerce website. They can pay sales orders, invoices, or subscriptions with recurring payments with their favorite payment methods.

In Odoo, a payment can either be linked directly to an invoice or be a stand-alone record for use on a later date:

  1. If a payment is linked to an invoice, it reduces the amount due of the invoice. You can have multiple payments linked to the same invoice.
  2. If a payment is not linked to an invoice, the customer has an outstanding credit with your company or your company as an outstanding balance with a vendor. You can use this outstanding credit/debit to pay the future invoices or bills.

Payment Terms can be applied to sales orders, customer invoices, supplier bills, and contacts. These conditions cover:

The due date, Some discounts, Any other condition on the payment.

Configuring the payment methods is easy in Odoo.You can find the various payment acquirers from the configuration tab of the Odoo 15 eCommerce module as you can see in the screenshot given below.

When you click on the Payment Acquirers button this image will appear, for this you can see the screenshot below.

Now you have to install the Alipay and activate this after the installation, as you can see in the highlighted above screenshot.

When you activate this one of the payment acquire Alipay configuration tabs will open up for you to configure as shown in the screenshot given below.

It has three states as you can see in the screenshot above. 

States are “Disabled, Enabled and Test Mode”, you can change the state as per your needs.

Now click on the enabled option to activate the payment method, you can edit and configure settings on the acquirer.

You can configure and view the various supported payment icons.You can modify the messages according to the nature of your business. Enter and configuration details and click on the Save button to avail of the payment option.
